WEBINAR | Financial Autonomy of Health Facilities: Arguments, Constraints and Courses of Action
Details
No. 1 in the GFF/WHO Health Financing & PHC Webinar Series
One of the assumptions underlying strategic purchasing in healthcare is that the healthcare facility has the necessary leeway to respond to the incentives issued by the purchasing agency.
While in many African countries, healthcare facilities, including health centers, have acquired such leeway over the financial resources mobilized from users, progress has been slower on public funding. Yet it is the latter that are the key to Universal Health Coverage.
In this webinar, we will revisit the arguments for and against greater financial autonomy for healthcare facilities.
We will take stock of the obstacles and possible solutions by reviewing the situation in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
