This annual report seeks to understand the impact of COVID-19 on countries and communities. The report also details the rollout of the GFF strategy for 2021–25 and provides concrete examples of how GFF is addressing persistent inequalities — further exacerbated by COVID-19 impacts — to strengthen health systems and support global health security.

The report shows mixed progress across key health indicators in many of the world’s poorest countries as COVID-19 continues to disrupt health systems and essential health services for women, children, and adolescents. At the same time, it conveys a clear message: that country leadership, long-term funding and foundational support have helped build resilience, underscoring the need for more support to help countries keep a focus on equity and invest in more and better primary health care.
